HONDURAS STRATEGIC INVESTMENT (INVEST-H), under the Government of the Republic of Honduras, financed by the IBERO-AMERICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK (IDB), has awarded Urci Consultores the «Study and Design of the highway CA-1 rehabilitation and improvement, LOT A: La Ceiba (entrance to Saopín Bridge over Cangrejal River, Station 190+790) at the Bridge exit over Tomalá River (Station 230+790) in the Altantida Department, L= 40 km, June 11, 2018.
The purpose of the project is to carry out all the necessary studies and designs to rehabilitate a 40 km stretch in the CA-13 highway, a section located in the Atlantida Department, in the northern area of the Republic of Honduras.
CA-13 Highway is part of the Tourist Corridor, which in turn is part of Honduras’ Main Corridors. This tourist corridor connects major cities on the Honduran Atlantic Coast, where much of the industrial, commercial and tourist activity is concentrated.
The particular section, «La Ceiba – Tomalá River Bridge», is composed of a section with two lanes, one for each direction, with a typical section with an average roadway width of 7.3 m (3.65 m for each lane), plus an average shoulder width of 1.2 m to 1.5 m, and with a running surface of approximately 5-10 cm thick asphalt concrete pavement. In addition, it has 18 structures, including the bridge over Saopín, over the Cangrejal river, about 300 m long.
