The High Speed Train arrives in Mérida

The contract is part of the actions to be carried out in order to give continuity to the commissioning of the Madrid-Extremadura high-speed line, and has an execution period of sixteen months.

In addition to the track duplication between the stations of Mérida and Aljucén, the project includes the line enclosure between both locations and from Aljucén station to the connection with the high-speed line at La Garrovilla station (direction Badajoz) and the connection to this line north of Aljucén (direction Cáceres).

The main actions contemplated in the project are the extension of the existing railway platform for track duplication in an approximate length of 5.3 km, the execution of route rectifications in km 455, 456 and 457, the adaptation and extension of existing structures for the track duplication and the modification of the line enclosure.

The actions are co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
