New promenade in El Ejido

The Ensenada de San Miguel, in El Ejido, located between Guardias Viejas and Punta Entinas, forms a coastal front 8 km long in which all tourist activity in El Ejido is concentrated. All these tourist activities have a promenade as the connecting link at the seafront, with the exception of the most western section in an approximate length of 11 km between the center of Guardias Viejas and Ejido Beach residential area. The construction project of the promenade between sector SUMPA-5-SM and Guardias Viejas aims to complete the promenade in the entire Ensenada de San Miguel.

Taking into account criteria such as urban planning, coastal dynamics and the plan adjustment within the area of protective easement, among others, a promenade is designed with the parapet line adjusted in plan to the line demarcation of the maritime public domain land, with small adjustments. The elevation has been adjusted as far as possible, to a height between 1.00 and 3.50 m.

The promenade’s cross section contains a pedestrian area, two garden strips, a bicycle lane between both strips, and a sidewalk, which defines the public space.

The continuity of the road traffic from Camino de las Salinas is obtained through the design of a new roadway 20 m wide with one lane for each traffic direction.

The accesses to the beach have been located at varying distances ranging from 70 m to 120 m, coinciding with the roadway of the surrounding sectors. The geometric design is identical in all of the accesses and they have been set up as points of complete access for disabled users.
