Access to the Colca Canyon, Arequipa

The project is part of the works defined for the Reconstruction with Changes of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, being URCI responsible for the Supervision Services of the Improvement and Rehabilitation Project of the Road Infrastructure Package 6R, in Sections 1 and 4, located in the Department of Arequipa.

The sections to be studied are as follows:

  • Section 1: Junction AR-109 – Junction R-23-Paclla, section with a total planned length of 20.75 km, located in the Province of Cayloma, District of Cabanaconde, which passes through the towns of Torouña and Paclla, where it ends. The altitude of this road varies, having a minimum altitude of 2,110 m.a.s.l. and a maximum altitude of 3,247 m.a.s.l.
  • Section 4: Junction AR-109 (Viscayacu) – Junction AR-706- (Lluta), section with a total planned length of 28.75 km, located in the same province as section 1, Cayloma, in the District of Lluta, the town where this section ends. The altitude of this road varies, having a minimum altitude of 2,808 m.a.s.l. and a maximum altitude of 3,466 m.a.s.l.

The Supervision includes both the preparation of the Technical File for the entity, as well as the Supervision of the Execution of Work, fulfillment and handover of the same.

For the development of these works it has been necessary to carry out an exhaustive study of the materials and pavements present in the project, as well as the analysis of the hydrology, drainage works, structures and traffic. The work has been complemented with PACRI, environmental and archaeological interventions.
