Boosting Tourism in Honduras

The project consists of the rehabilitation and improvement of the CA-13 road from La Ceiba, including the bridge over the Cangrejal river up to the bridge over the Tomalá river, with a length of 40 km, this section corresponding to Lot A.

The project is located in the department of Atlántida and will boost one of the main tourist corridors in Honduras, increasing the capacity of the road in the urban area of La Ceiba by implementing two lanes in each direction and building a new bridge over the Cangrejal river, 292 m long, which will replace the current bridge (see image), badly damaged by Hurricane Mitch in 1998 and by an episode of heavy rain in 2006.

Also planned is the complete renovation of the road’s pavement, which is currently very deteriorated, and the extension of the standard section, providing 1.80 m wide shoulders, which are not currently present in many sections.

The project is completed with the improvement of the route and intersections, the adaptation of the road drainage system taking into account the requirements of climate change, signposting and safety barriers and lighting of the urban section of La Ceiba over a stretch of more than 4 km.
