Closure of the Seville S-40 ring road, Valencina-Salteras section

This important project consists of the execution of a 9.7 km long section of highway that, together with the previous section Espartinas-Valencina, will close the northwest arch of the SE-40 highway, which is crucial for solving the mobility of the Seville Metropolitan Area.

The route runs through the municipalities of Valencina de la Concepción and Salteras. The topography of the section is generally quite gentle and represents a transition between the Aljarafe plateau, at approximately 120 m high, and the Vega del Guadalquivir, at 25 m.

The standard section of the highway’s main structure consists of a double roadway, with three 3.50 m lanes each way, outer and inner shoulders of 2.5 and 1 m respectively, and a median of 10 m.

It is worthwhile noting the construction of the link with the Ruta de La Plata A-66 highway, of turbine type, which will allow the connection of all movements between both highways and includes a viaduct about 70 m long to cross the junction with the A-66. In addition to this structure, it was also contemplated the execution of a bridge over the Arroyo del Judío stream, nine underpasses and five overpasses.
