Capacity increase of the High Speed Line Madrid – Segovia – Valladolid
The main objective of this action is to increase the capacity of the Madrid-Segovia-Valladolid high-speed line, enabling an increase in frequencies and a reduction in travel times, while at the same time significantly improving the operation of the Valladolid station, seeking better integration and permeability of the railway in the city of Valladolid.
To this end, the railway infrastructure, track and electrification are defined for three main tracks, two of standard gauge and one of Iberian gauge, from Valladolid Campo Grande station to the Valladolid North junction with the Valladolid East Railway Variant, including the connections with the latter.
Since Valladolid station is the most important station in the city, province and community of Castile and León, and it currently has two accesses from the north, one of standard gauge and the other of Iberian gauge, the purpose is to guarantee the performance, capacity and reliability of current passenger and freight traffic at all times.
It also includes the prior analysis of the state of the existing platform, its drainage works, trenches, embankments, structures, crossings and their gauges, etc., which will allow to conclude the necessary improvement actions to be carried out.
