The Costa del Sol (Malaga) improves its connections
The purpose of the project is the third lane extension per road in the Eastern Ronda of Málaga A-7, between km points 243+500 and 246+600.
These actions will allow to increase the capacity of the highway, which has been recording a significant increase in ADT along this section, and due to its geometric and operational conditions caused delays at peak periods.
This section runs along a significantly rugged terrain and a very anthropized surrounding. In much of the stretch, there are urban and development areas located very close.
The main singularity of the section is the presence of 3 viaducts, 4 links, and the Cerrado de Calderón tunnel, 800 meters long. Therefore, the extension of the roadways to 3 lanes entails the extension of 3 viaducts, 4 overpasses and a reinforced concrete wall.
It also includes the rehabilitation and maintenance of the existing road surface, adaptation of all the road safety equipment (signposting, beaconing and safety) in compliance with the current regulations and improvement of the installations of the Cerrado de Calderón tunnel in accordance with RD 635/2006 legislation.
Throughout the construction process, it has been taken into account the need to maintain traffic on the A-7 and minimize the impact on road traffic.
