Cañón del Pato has continuity in Ancash
Work 1 is located in the National Road Route PE-3N, «Longitudinal de la Sierra Norte», between km points 546+310 and 642+730, in the Department of Ancash, within the corridor of the current road between the towns of Conococha – Huaraz – Caraz.
In order to preserve the continuity of the tributaries of the Santa river, a total of 8 bridges are planned, of a portico type and a run-on slab, with spans ranging from 8 to 12 m. Their section is made up of two 3.60 m lanes, plus a 0.90 m shoulder, 1.20 m sidewalks and 0.40 m rails on both sides.
The actions are complemented by the construction of the accesses to the new structures over a total length of approximately 800 m, in addition to the detours required for the execution of the structures since they are located on the axis of the current road.
The file includes the identification, preparation and processing of the necessary interference files, as well as the preparation of the independent Environmental Impact Statements for each of the structures to be executed.
Work 2 is also located on the National Road Route PE-3N, «Longitudinal de la Sierra Norte», between km points 751+518 and 776+216, in the Department of Ancash, between Chuquicara and the Quiroz Bridge.
The first of the structures designed saves the Santa river in the area called Chuquicara, with a span of 60 m, two other structures on the Tablachaca river, tributary of the Santa, with spans of 60 and 50 m, while the fourth is located on the Ancos river, tributary of the Tablacha, with a span of 60 m.
The decision was made to bridge the necessary spans with two Warren-type trusses joined by means of metal crossbeams on which a concrete slab rests to provide a section consisting of two 3.30 m lanes, 0.90 m shoulder, 1.20 m sidewalks and their corresponding safety barriers, with a width of 0.40 m on both sides.
The structures designed do not have support in the riverbed due to the power of erosion and destruction of the rivers they cross. The corresponding protection is designed in order to avoid these problems in the future.
An important aspect is that the bridges over the Tablachaca river are located in the Calipuy Natural Reserve, which requires the drafting of an Environmental Impact Assessment for each one of them, while the structures designed for Chuquicara and Quiroz have the corresponding Environmental Impact Statement.
The projected bridges are located on the current axis of the road, which is why it is necessary to design the temporary work detours that involve the installation of temporary bayle-type bridges to keep the road operating.
