Access to the Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu<\/h3>\r\n

The works consist of designing a 27.1 km long road section. The standard section consists of two lanes 3.30 m wide, a 0.50 m emergency lane and a 0.50 m widening, all with a flexible pavement. A total of 6 bridges are designed, of different types (truss bridges, prestressed box bridges) and lengths ranging from 45 m to 60 m.<\/p>\r\n

As a singular work and in an independent file, between km points 6+080 and 8+120 a tunnel and its accesses are designed to give the road continuity. It consists of a bi-directional tunnel with a length of 1,774 m equipped with all the necessary facilities for its operation.<\/p>\r\n

The drainage system consists of a total of 89 transversal drainage works of different dimensions, complemented by both longitudinal and deep drainage. In view of the proximity to the river Vilcanota along the road corridor, it is necessary to provide the necessary protection measures, both with rockfill and gabions, according to the needs.<\/p>\r\n

Between km points 5+800 and 9+200, the road crosses pre-Hispanic paths, since the entire corridor is located on the Buffer Zone of the Archaeological Site of Machu Picchu. In order to highlight the areas where this event occurs, a rigid masonry pavement and the corresponding signposting have been laid out so that it can be noticed and used by tourists visiting the area.<\/p>\r\n
