The new desalination plant solves the water shortage in Eastern Almer\u00eda<\/h3>\r\n

This is a project that was declared of general interest and as such was included in the Law 10\/2001, July 5th, of the National Hydrological Plan. This new desalination plant is part of the water supply system for agriculture and human consumption for Eastern Almer\u00eda and is connected to it through the piping that will connect Carboneras and Cuevas del Almanzora. <\/p>\r\n

The desalination system is based on a reverse osmosis technology and includes a versatile facility that enables adaptation to the demand, modulation and ease of future expansion. <\/p>\r\n

The plant is designed to produce 60,000 m3\/day of desalinated water through four 15,000 m3\/day treatment lines. Therefore, it is necessary to have a total supply of 135,462 m3\/day. For this, the planning and development includes the building of six wells with capacity to feed an osmosis line (33,400 m3\/day), an underwater inlet made of polyethylene with a diameter of 1,400 mm parallel to the brine discharge outlet, an underground pumping tank equipped with four pumps to supply sea water into the process and an additional pump to dilute the brine in accordance to the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).<\/p>\r\n

The brine discharge is carried out by an underwater outlet with a diameter of 1,000 mm at -25 level.
