CONSTRUCTORA MECO S.A. has awarded Urci Consultores the project design for the streets and roads in David District, which will be executed on behalf of the Panamanian Ministry of Public Works. (Date of award June 8, 2018).
This project concerns 90.30 km for the benefit of over 140,000 inhabitants in 9 townships in the capital district of Chiriquí Province, and has been divided into two stages or lines.
The first line, with an investment of B/23,950,144.11, concerns an approximate length of 39.5 km and includes the townships of Bijagual, where a stretch of 6.98 km will be built, the township of Cochea (10.1 km); San Pablo Viejo (19.41 km); San Carlos (9.85 km), and the township of Guacá (4.05 km). The second line of this project, at a cost of B/.24,244,209.89, comprises an approximate length of 40.80 km for the benefit of the townships of San Pablo Nuevo (7.45 km), Pedregal (5.28 km), Chiriquí (4.85 km) and David (20.58 km).
The work comprises the rehabilitation and construction of over fifty streets and roads, including studies, topographic surveys, final pavement designs, rainwater drainage, rainwater gullies, vehicle bridge, road signaling, relocation of public utilities, as well as environmental studies and the corresponding mitigation measures.
It also includes placement of select material, base layer, irrigation primer, double asphalt sealing, hot asphalt concrete, underground drainage piping, corrugated steel sheet girder barriers, rural type stop house, slope protection (hydroseeding), vertical signs (preventive, restrictive, informative), horizontal signs (continuous white reflective bands, continuous yellow bands, white for pedestrian crossing).
Likewise, the project oversees the construction of six vehicle bridges, rainwater gullies, over 6,193 square meters of pedestrian sidewalks, conformation of channels, plus works of environmental mitigation, general impacts, demolition works, removals or relocation of obstructions and of public and private utilities, as well as the fulfillment of the environmental criteria required for projects of this kind.
